Artist Portfolio : a content management system even an artist can useClick an image to see larger version in a new windowfigure "a" figure "b" The ProblemEuropean artist Peter Regli needed a portfolio site to house photographs and descriptions of projects. Being based in Switzerland, he didn't want to engage in a maintenance contract or commit to ongoing design fees. The SolutionA very simple template system was devised where we laid out 7 page styles he would be most likely to use. A simple, graphical interface was used for point and click selection of a template (figure "a"). Image size requirements were added to the template thumbnails as a reminder for image processing. A form for entering description and details about the art project and for uploading prepared graphics was all that remained to automate the page creation (figure "b"). The correct section of the site is chosen right on the form and the index page for that section is automatically updated. ResultsIt's a simple site, but 5 years later the Content Management System is still in place and operational. The owner has been able to update his site from Hong Kong to Bueyeros, New Mexico; and of course, from his home in Zürich. Check out his unique art work at http://www.realityhacking.com |
